Opening Event of the India Competence Centre Düsseldorf (IKD)
The India Competence Centre Düsseldorf will be officially opened by Dr. Stephan Keller, Lord Mayor of the City of Düsseldorf, Andreas Schmitz, President of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and Wolfram Diener, President and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf on 27 June. Following the opening, H.E. Mr. Ajit Gupte, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Germany, will deliver a keynote on Indo-German economic relations.
India is evolving with remarkable momentum into a global economic powerhouse – as Asia’s third-largest economy, a driver of technology, and a hub for innovation. For many companies in Düsseldorf and the surrounding region, India is becoming an increasingly important market for sourcing, sales, and strategic cooperation.
To shape and support this development, the Düsseldorf Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the City of Düsseldorf, and Messe Düsseldorf have jointly established the India Competence Centre Düsseldorf (IKD). By pooling their expertise, networks, and resources, the three founding partners provide companies with a central point of contact for successful market entry, targeted business development, and the recruitment of skilled professionals in the Indo-German context.
The IKD aims to deepen bilateral economic exchange, unlock new market opportunities, and further position Düsseldorf as an international hub for trade fairs, business, and innovation. It supports companies from Düsseldorf and North Rhine-Westphalia in expanding their activities in India, while also assisting Indian companies in establishing a presence in the Düsseldorf region.
