You can find further information on the latest import regulations here (German only).

Certification

In order to export certain products to India, manufacturers often require certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). This certification requirement applies to a growing number of products. In our overview of BIS certifications (German only), we have collated all the relevant information for you, alongside a number of helpful links.

EU-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA)

After nearly two decades of negotiations, the European Union and India announced the conclusion of a comprehensive free trade agreement (FTA) in January 2026. The agreement aims to eliminate or reduce tariffs on over 96% of EU exports to India, remove non-tariff trade barriers, and facilitate investment. For export-oriented companies in Germany, the FTA promises tangible cost savings, simplified procedures, and new business opportunities. Further information on the free trade agreement and the current status of its implementation can be found here.
